How to Speed up XP Shutdown.
When XP closes the desktop screen and goes to the shutdown screen, if there is a delay longer than 10 seconds, and your system is performing normally, here's what to do.
From the Start Menu choose RUN. Type REGEDIT in the window. When the regedit window comes up, Click on edit then FIND. In the FIND box type the following exactly :-

When it comes up highlighted, click edit again and MODIFY. In the window that comes up, check the number in Value Data. If it more than 10000 change it to 5000 but not less. Click OK to save the new value. Re-boot and try shutting down again. It should now shutdown in 5 seconds or less.
